This is the life...

I've spent the last week with family on Cape Cod. There is nothing quite like the experience of spending a quiet vacation on a coastal New England town. The fireworks on the 4th, the seafood dinners, the sandy dogwalks... It's the kind of place you could actually see yourself building a beautiful, quiet life.

There's a song from the musical Grey Gardens, about a reclusive mother and daughter who live in a run-down old mansion in the Hamptons. The song is called "Another Winter in a Summer Town". The song is a metaphor for the depressed, aging daughter's life in the house where she once was a blooming socialite. However, I can't imagine life in a beautiful, quiet coastal town being anything short of wonderful. I could live quite happily on clams and Cape Cod Beer. Though, I guess life is what you make of it. There are miserable people in paradise and happy people in the winters of Minnesota. (You snow-belt people are cray-cray).

It's our last night here. Sad to say goodbye to the Cape, but there's always next year!
